New York (WiredPRNews.com) – A new book by Suzanne Somers has sparked major controversy. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the book Knockout: Interviews with Doctors who are Curing Cancer and how to Prevent Getting it in the First Place, has some doctors fearing the information contained within it will potentially be harmful for those who heed its advice. The book reportedly focuses on alternative methods to treating cancer, and argues against the use of chemotherapy for some of the most common types of cancer. Dr. Otis Brawley with the American Cancer Society, is quoted in the report as stating of the book, “I am very afraid that people are going to listen to her message and follow what she says and be harmed by it… We use current treatments because they’ve been proven to prolong life. They’ve gone through a logical, scientific method of evaluation. I don’t know if Suzanne Somers even knows there IS a logical, scientific method.” Somers is quoted by the AP as stating of her latest book in an interview, “Cancer’s an epidemic… And yet we keep going back to the same old pot, because it’s all we’ve got. Well, this is a book about options.” Somers is further quoted as stating, “I’m ‘us’… I’m not them. I’ve been on the other side of the bed. And it’s powerful to have information.” Knockout is scheduled for release Tuesday. WiredPRNews.com – The latest in Entertainment News Photo Credit: Wikipedia User Phil Konstantin Come And Visit
