Famed television composer dies

Vic Mizzy, composer of famed theme song for “The Addams Family” sitcom has passed away.


Los Angeles (WiredPRNews.com) – Famed sitcom theme song composer Vic Mizzy has passed away at the age of 93. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Mizzy died at his home Saturday. The composer penned a number of songs made famous by stars such as Dean Martin and Billie Holiday. Among his most famous works are the theme songs for the sitcoms “The Addams Family” and “Green Acres,” as well as a number of hits he wrote while serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II.


Mizzy’s manager Jonathan Wolfson is quoted by the AP as stating of the songwriter’s credit for “The Addams Family” theme, “He was smart enough to demand to own the song, which was unheard of at the time. So any time you go to a Lakers game and they play that song, he made money.”
