Linkin Park fans have been left devastated by the death of lead singer Chester Bennington, after he committed suicide at the age of 41 today – made more poignant by the fact that the band released a brand new single Talking To Myself on the same day.

The energetic anthem, which comes from the album One More Light, released today ahead of the news of Chester’s passing.

TMZ reported that Bennington hanged himself in the morning of Thursday July 20.

Fans are already leaving touching tributes to the lead singer in the comments section below the new video. Bennington previously had defended the direction of the newest album, which was veering into pop territory.

After backlash from fans who accused the band of being sellouts, Bennington told Kerrang!: ‘This is not an opinion of the entire band. I think my response was “cool, f*** them, we don’t want them as fans anyways.”‘

Fans are taking to social media to comment on the poignancy of Talking To Myself, saying the song has taken on a whole new meaning.

Bennington has previously spoken about struggles with drugs and alcohol and was married twice. He has fathered six children.
