Electricity prices in all bidding zones of the Nord Pool exchange were declining over the past week, while the Lithuanian price was the lowest among the Baltic states, electricity transmission company Litgrid said, cites LETA/BNS.

According to the press release, the decline in the Baltic region was due to the drop in demand by nearly 8% and cheaper imports from Scandinavia.

Across the system, electricity prices fell by 22%, while the drop in Lithuania was 17% to an average of 32.27 euros per megawatt-hour (MWh). Estonia and Latvia posted respective decrease by 15% and 16% to 32.43 euros and 32.32 euros.

Last week, electricity consumption level in the Baltic states was 556 gigawatt-hours (GWh), including 220 GWh in Lithuania, 154 GWh in Latvia and 182 G Wh in Estonia.

Lithuania imported 77% of the electricity it consumed last week, said Litgrid.
