Kuwaitis actively take part in 3rd Jeddah Book Fair

JEDDAH, Dec 15 (KUNA) -- Several Kuwaiti publishers are taking part in the ongoing Third Jeddah International Book Fair, with a variety of cultural and literary books, and other publications covering humanities.
Representatives of Kuwaiti publishing houses at the fair have appreciated the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information for the good organization of the event, pointing to huge turnout.
Waleed Hassan of Dar Kalemat (Words) said that they are in the cultural event for the third time, as part of the efforts to disseminate knowledge and culture, and to shed light on the Kuwaiti publications.
Director General of Platinum Printing Press Jassim Ashkenani said they were keen participating in the fair prompted by "growing turnout." This is the second time for "Dream Book" publishing and printing house to take part in the Jeddah fair, one of the leading Arab and Gulf cultural events, Executive Director Faisal Al-Mushawh said.
Taking part in the fair aims to highlight Kuwait's civilized image as a "scientific and cultural beacon," in addition to spreading production of Kuwaiti creative authors in different areas.
The Kuwaiti publishers attract huge numbers of visitors of all ages, Sama Publishing and Distribution Director General Yusuf Al-Issa said.
Up to 500 publishers from 42 countries are partaking in the Jeddah fair, opened Wednesday for ten days. Cultural activities of the fair feature many leading intellectuals and men of letters.
The event is expected to attract about 50,000 visitors. (end) nsa.msa
