New York Jets' ArDarius Stewart facing 2-game suspension, report says

New York Jets wide receiver ArDarius Stewart catches a pass for a first down during the first half of an NFL game against the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 24, 2017, in East Rutherford, N.J.

New York Jets wide receiver ArDarius Stewart could miss the first two games of the 2018 NFL regular season for violating the league's Policy on Performance-Enhancing Substances.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported on Friday that Stewart had tested positive for a diuretic or masking agent. The NFL considers such results as a positive, or failed, test.

Stewart joined the Jets from Alabama as a third-round choice in the 2017 NFL Draft.

During his rookie season, Stewart played in 15 games, with two starts. He was on the field for 231 offensive snaps and 132 special-teams plays in 2017.

Stewart caught six passes for 82 yards, ran seven times for 27 yards and returned nine kickoffs for 173 yards last season.

Before playing for the Crimson Tide, Stewart was the state's Class 2A Back of the Year in 2011 and 2012 at Fultondale High School, where he was a three-time All-State player -- the first two seasons in the athlete slot and the last one as a quarterback.

The Jets' veteran players are scheduled to report for training camp on Thursday at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center in Florham Park, New Jersey. If Stewart is suspended by the NFL, the disciplinary action would not prevent him from taking part in training camp or playing in preseason games.
