President calls farmers to take advantage of entering EEU markets

Bishkek, Aug. 15, 2018. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov, as part of his working trip to Osh oblast, got acquainted with the activities of the Birlik Seed-Growing Agricultural Cooperative in Aravan region, the press service of the Kyrgyz President reported.

The information on the cooperative’s activity has been provided by its head Khamidullo Tadzhibaev.

Today the cooperative uses 68,7 hectares of land under a rental agreement with the public fund. The cooperative has been active since 1996 and grows stock cotton and grain seeds.

Khamidullo Tadzhibaev noted that there is an increase of economic indexes in the cooperative, thus, the amount of cotton crop was 32 centners per hectare in 2017, whereas in 2016 it was 29,7 centners. In 2016 seeds allowed to produce 58 tons of cotton, in 2017 - 65,1 tons.

Logistics of the cooperative is good, there are storage facilities for grain, tractors with supplement parts, cargo vehicle and other agricultural equipment.

“The country’s agricultural sector has a great potential, since there is a strong demand for ecologically clean products in the world market, which can be supplied by Kyrgyzstan to the markets of Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), China and European Union within GSP+. All the internal financial institutions, such as Guarantee Fund, Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, state banks carry out their activities focusing on and with increased attention to regions,” Jeenbekov said.

He reminded that recently he had signed the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Introducing Amendments into the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic ‘On Cooperatives’”, which would allow to improve the work of the cooperative’s council, and resolve internal contradictions and conflicts of interests in the cooperative’s activity.

Tadzhibaev showed the country’s leader the cotton field. They talked about the prospects of the country’s agricultural sector.

The President wished the farmer good harvest, and expressed gratitude for his work.
