IAPA condemns murder of another Haitian journalist

The Inter American Press Association (IAPA) is urging Haitian authorities to investigate and bring to justice the killers of journalist Néhémie Joseph.
Joseph is the second journalist to be murdered in the Caribbean territory since the start of the year.
The other was Rospide Pétion who was killed on June 10.
Several others have been injured in separate attacks.
In a statement posted on its website, IAPA said the murder underscores the violence and risks faced by reporters in Haiti.
"Joseph's murder occurs amid an alarming resurgence of violent protests against President Jovenel Moïse and weeks after the journalist posted on his Facebook account that he had received threats from politicians who accused him of instigating the demonstrations," an IAPA spokesperson said in the release.
IAPA president Christopher Barnes and the head of the group's committee on freedom of the press and Information, Roberto Rock, say Haiti's climate of insecurity for media workers is equally "alarming" as the anti-government protests.
