Love Island star Chris Hughes has been forced to apologise after using the N-word in a rap filmed on social media over the weekend.

The reality TV hunk, who released his debut rap single with Love Island co-star Kem Cetinay recently, was singing along to Drake's track The Motto when he was heard saying it twice.

'N**** money talks and Mr Ed! Yeah! I’m so Young Money got a drum on the gun," he rapped as she sat alongside girlfriend Olivia Attwood .

"Energizer bunny, funny how honey ain’t sweet like sugar, ain’t s**t sweet n****s on the street like hookers."

After coming under fire from followers who caught wind of the video, Chris took to Twitter on Monday to apologise to his fans.

He wrote in a statement: "I wanted to take this moment to address the situation with regards to me being filmed singing the lyrics of the Drake song on Saturday night in a club.

"While it is clear I am singing along to the lyrics of an artist I love, I can see, and completely understand, how this has caused offence."

He added that he was "mortified" by the incident and said he hopes to learn from it.

"This is absolutely the last thing I would ever have wanted to do and I can only apologise to you all. I am mortified that anyone would be upset by my actions.

"I see this stuff on Snapchat every Satuday and Sunday morning, but that's no excuse. I promise to learn from this experience - and am truly sorry. Love CH."

His apology comes as Katie Price issued a stark warning to him.

The 39-year-old Loose Women star has been at war with the 22-year-old Love Island hunk ever since he rejected her advances.

But now the former glamour model is threatening her young rival with career oblivion - and hinted she may have been instrumental in ending the career of former chart topping singer Gareth Gates, 33.

During a chat with BUILD, Katie listed her current life woes before turning her attention to Chris and then bringing up her former fling Gareth - who she had a brief, headline grabbing relationship with back in the early 2000s (while Katie was pregnant with her eldest son, Harvey, 15).

"I lost a baby, found out my husband's cheating, my mum's dying then these threats about Harvey,” Katie began.

"In between that I've got that little t**t Chris Hughes piping up about some messages that I don't really care about,” she grumbled.

"I will not be called a liar. I wish he will just leave it - who cares? Just don't call me a liar when I'm not. He’s piping on about it - means you're guilty,” she continued.

Then she stuck the knife in, saying: "Remember Gareth Gates? He lied and as soon as it came out, his career went downhill.”
