Galle incident: stern action against bogus posts on social media

Police sources state that law enforcement authorities have received intelligence that certain unidentified parties are spreading false rumours on the events that ensued in Gintota on November 17.
Following the incident the Police stated that the CID has launched an investigation into the incident and will apprehend any parties spreading false facts on the Galle incident via social media.
Due to false facts being spread across social media, the police stated that stern legal action will be taken against any person guilty of circulating rumours on the Galle incident.
The police stated that certain activists have taken to social media to cause unrest among the people by instilling fear trough false rumours. Officials urged the general public to disregard any factually incorrect posts on social media to prevent the spread of bogus news.
