Semporna Umno to use social media as GE14 machinery

SEMPORNA: Semporna Umno will use social media as a medium to interact with voters in conjunction with the 14th General Election (GE14).
Its acting chief Datuk Seri Nasir Tun Sakaran (pix) said the division had already set up its information technology machinery to stave off and counter the opposition's insinuations.
He recalled that Umno and Barisan Nasional were caught off balance in the 13th general election by the opposition's use of social media as a propaganda medium and ill prepared to rebut the allegations and slander hurled at them.
"This time, the directive came from the party leadership, so we are responding and are ready to face the opposition's onslaughts as we do not want to lose in the next general election," he told reporters after opening the Semporna Entrepreneurs Club at Dewan Marin here today.
Nasir was commenting on the call by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi yesterday for Umno and BN to optimise the social media for GE14.
