FACT has announced its newest venture coming to Liverpool city centre this August.

‘Cinema in the City’ will see some of the best new independent films come to various open-air venues across the Liverpool.

FACT’s newest project provides the chance to view six recently released indie films, highlighting local talent and the city’s film history.

The unique opportunity will allow film-lovers to enjoy critically-acclaimed films with Liverpool as their backdrop.

The outdoor cinema screenings are supported by Film Hub North and will begin in August.

Cotton Exchange Rooftop Garden in the city centre will be the resident venue for August, with its rooftop providing the perfect atmosphere.

The first instalment of Cinema in the City will take place across the weekend of August 13 - 15.

Three films will be shown across the three days, starting with ‘Bloody Nose, Empty Pockets’ on Friday, followed by ‘Ammonite’ and ‘Apples’ shown on Saturday and Sunday.

Before the premieres commence, viewers will be able to enjoy shorts from up and coming filmmakers, as well as food and drink served by the city’s much-loved independents.

August sees popular middle-eastern restaurant Madre partner with the cinema.

The second instalment of FACT’s outdoor cinema will take place from Friday, August 20 until Sunday, August 22.

These dates will give viewers the chance to see ‘The Killing of Two Lovers’, ‘Rare Beasts’, and ‘Stray’.

Tickets must be purchased for each screening, and vary in price.
