The View panelist Sara Haines had an emotional reunion with her former GMA3 cohost Michael Strahan, as the TV personality joined the beloved talk show for a wide-ranging interview that included a tear-filled segment about his daughter Isabella and her cancer journey.
Strahan appeared Friday on the talk show to discuss his daughter's upcoming ABC special, Life Interrupted: Isabella Strahan's Fight Against Cancer, which chronicles her diagnosis and subsequent treatment after she underwent emergency surgery in October 2023 to remove a large, malignant tumor called a medulloblastoma.
"Isabella's first brain surgery left her having to relearn how to walk, talk, and even eat on her own. She then went through a month of daily radiation, chemotherapy," Haines said, segueing into a question for Strahan as she fought back tears live on the air. "[It shows] the pain of a parent watching your child feel uncomfortable — and so few of us deal with this type of pain."
After Haines asked Strahan how that experience was for him, he replied, "You're going to make me cry," before discussing the difficulty he faces in deciding whether or not to watch his daughter's special.
"I have not watched one vlog that she's done," Strahan said, also referencing Isabella's documentation of her treatment on her YouTube video series. "I don't even know if I'll watch this documentary, even though I participated and answered questions for it. It's just too hard for me to watch, to relive it."

Strahan added that he felt "hopeless" and "helpless" as he watched Isabella undergo treatment before his daughter was declared cancer-free in July 2024.
"You're just a father who knows nothing more than to fix what you can for your kids. I can't fix this. All I can do is sit back and pray that we have the right doctors and that it's something that can be treated so she can get back to being as normal as possible and get back to her life," Strahan said. "She has shown me. I've learned so much watching her go through all of this, but it's the toughest thing to sit in a hospital room with your kid, and you just sit there and tell them you love them, and have your kid look at you and say, 'Dad, I'll do whatever they say. I just want to live. I don't want to die.'"

Haines praised his daughter as "a tigress" and lauded "the strength that's come out of Isabella in watching her face this."
Haines and Strahan first worked together in a permanent capacity as cohosts on the third hour of Good Morning America, initially titled GMA Day, in 2018. The show was later renamed Strahan and Sara in 2019, before it underwent an additional title change to GMA3: Strahan, Sara, and Keke after adding actress Keke Palmer to the panelist lineup.
The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/PT on ABC.
