Liverpool vs Newcastle simulated as Carabao Cup Final decided in dramatic extra time
Liverpool take on Newcastle United at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon, so we simulated the cup final to predict the final score.
Liverpool have the chance to win their first trophy of the season when they face Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup Final later today.
After crashing out of the Champions League to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties midweek, Liverpool have the chance to end the week on a high as the Reds travel to the capital for the Carabao Cup Final against Newcastle United. Liverpool will be looking to defend the trophy after winning the competition last year, and a win later today would be Liverpool's third Carabao Cup victory in the last four seasons.
A 4-1 aggregate win against Tottenham in the semi-finals set up the clash with Newcastle who beat Arsenal 4-0 over two legs in the other semi-final clash. Arne Slot's side have already faced the Magpies twice this season, drawing 3-3 at St. James' Park before winning 2-0 at Anfield.

Liverpool vs Newcastle United Carabao Cup score predicted
To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.
We predict that Liverpool could line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Alisson; Quansah, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Jota.
We predict that Newcastle could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Dubravka; Trippier, Schar, Burn, Livramento; Guimaraes, Tonali, Joelinton; Murphy, Isak, Willock.
Liverpool were second best in the opening stages at Wembley, with Newcastle dominating the midfield battle and ultimately controlling the game. Big saves from Alisson denied Joe Willock and Bruno Guimares in the first 20 minutes as Newcastle looked for an opener, and the Magpies were awarded for their strong start when Alexander Isak powered a strike into the far corner from outside the box.
Mohamed Salah had Liverpool's best chance of the first half when Jarell Quansah picked out the run of the Egyptian down the right, and after cutting onto his left, his curling effort rattled the far post with the 'keeper well beaten. Luis Diaz missed a sitter early in the second half when headed wide of goal from a few yards out, but an overall improved performance after the restart saw the Reds draw level with 20 minutes to go.
Newcastle failed to clear a Liverpool corner properly, with Ryan Gravenberch intercepting Kieran Tripper's pass as the defender attempted to play out of the back. The Dutchman picked up the ball in a dangerous position before blasting a shot goalwards, with the midfielder beating the 'keeper at the near post to make it 1-1.
Martin Dubravka was incredible for the Magpies, with the 'keeper making nine saves in 90 minutes to ensure the game went to extra-time. Liverpool were the stronger team in extra-time as Newcastle started to fatigue, and in the 114th minute, Slot's side scored to go ahead.
Darwin Nunez was subbed off after just 13 minutes due to picking up a knock, with Cody Gakpo making a rare appearance at striker for extra time. A slip from Tino Livramento allowed Salah to break free down the right and his early cross into the box was brilliantly headed home by Gakpo, with the Dutchman picking out the top corner to win the Carabao Cup for Liverpool.
