His career leaped from there to television, where he joined L!VE TV and then became notoriously known for his stint on Blue Peter in 1997, lasting just over 18 months.

Lately, Richard has featured on various shows such as Good Morning Britain and was recently seen on BBC stalwart programme, Question Time.

This Thursday, he found himself debating alongside Republicans Overseas UK chairman, Greg Swenson, discussing the contentious political leader Donald Trump, who's been doling out economic sanctions left, right, and centre since regaining power in January this year.

As the debate between Richard and Greg heated up, one viewer commented on Richard's demeanour during the discussion, reports the Mirror.

The comment surfaced on X, with the viewer remarking: "Something a bit manic and weird about Richard Bacon's behaviour. #bbcqt."

Richard Bacon didn't shy away from the critique; he quote-tweeted the comment and cheekily replied: "Always."

Some viewers swiftly came to Richard's defence against the criticism, with one countering the original poster's views and stating: "I don't recognise that at all.. I think he's the only person making sense on the panel."

Another viewer proposed that Richard should be offered the chance to host the program.

In the midst of the panel discussion, an audience member voiced their unease about the United States by saying: "[They] aren't the allies that we used to think they were."

Richard seemed to concur and labelled Trump a "Frightening president."

Prompted by Richard's question regarding concerns about Trump, Greg left him astonished when he answered he had none. Puzzled, Richard followed up with a succinct "Nothing?"

The audience chuckled at this interaction, but Greg offered: "Trump] is very candid and that is new.

"He is not a traditional politician, he is surely not a former diplomat at all."

Greg continued to paint a picture of necessity and realism, "This is just reality. We have been protecting western Europe with our military, we cannot afford it anymore.

"We have been funding the six-week vacation in France in free healthcare by borrowing money every year to fund the trade deficits, so that's just reality. This is a common sense president."

Richard couldn't hide his disbelief at this portrayal and echoed, mockingly: "A common sense president?".

Following the most recent episode of Question Time, viewers were notified that the current season will conclude with next week's episode.
