A release date has been revealed for a new BBC series starring Nuneaton's Ashley Cain. Entitled 'Ashley Cain: Into the Danger Zone', the show sees the former Coventry City FC footballer visit some of the most hostile places across the world.

According to a BBC3 post on Facebook, the series will be available on the BBC iPlayer from Tuesday, April 1. The dad of three is no stranger to pushing himself to the limit.

He has undertaken a number of challenges, including undertaking an epic 'world first' three-month challenge - running, cycling and kayaking the length of the country three times. He also took part in the Channel 4 show, Celebrity SAS.

But in the description of the show, it says: "Over the past year, Ashley Cain has travelled to some of the planet’s most hostile environments, to meet men who have chosen a life of extreme criminality.

"From ruthless prison gangs in the Philippines to deadly poachers in South Africa, he steps into their world to ask: What would he do in their shoes?

In recent weeks the former Nicholas Chamberlaine School pupil has shared, on his Instagram account, that he was finalising the voice-overs for the show. Away from work, he is now a father to two boys.

He and former partner Safiyya Vorajee tragically lost their eight-month-old daughter Azaylia, who died on April 24 2021, months after bravely fighting acute myeloid leukaemia. The pair set up The Azaylia Foundation and they both continue to raise money and awareness in her name.
