Nintendo held a Nintendo Direct update presentation on Thursday. Even though the company's Switch 2 will be revealed on April 2, this event was solely about games for the original Switch, and two of them stood out because these titles come from Sony.

Patapon 1+2 Replay and Everybody's Golf: Hot Shots are two games licensed by Sony Interactive Entertainment that will come to the Switch later this year. Both games were PlayStation exclusives, but like with God of War and The Last of Us, Sony appears to be expanding its strategy of getting more of its games onto other platforms.

Patapon and Patapon 2 were first released on the PlayStation Portable in 2007 and 2008, respectively. The games feature a tribe of eyeball minions called the Patapon, who view the player as their deity. Players select certain troops to tackle monsters and other enemies by ordering them to attack based on rhythmic button presses. The remake will feature both games with enhanced high-resolution visuals and new support options to make the game a little easier to play. Patapon 1+2 Replay will be released on the Switch, the PS5 and PC on July 11.

Everybody's Golf: Hot Shots is a new entry into the franchise that started on the first PlayStation in 1997 under the name Hot Shots Golf in the US. The franchise has expanded to include several games since then on different PlayStation platforms, with the last one being Everybody's Golf for the PS4 in 2017.

This new entry features the same fun, not-so-realistic golf gameplay the series is known for. You can play solo or online with others, and there's a new Wacky Golf mode where some unique obstacles can mess with your ball or block a putt.

Everybody's Golf: Hot Shots will be released later this year on the Switch, PC and PS5. Both games are licensed by Sony Interactive Entertainment and published by Bandai Namco.

Both games are coming to the Switch and will also be available on the Switch 2 thanks to backward compatibility. Nintendo also revealed during the show that it will release a new update to Switch consoles to easily transfer digital games between different Switches. The virtual game cards will allow the owner of a game on the original Switch to easily move it over to a new Switch 2 console.
