Rylan Clark was on tenterhooks waiting for a reply when he cheekily queried a recent caller on his BBC Radio 2 programme if he happened to be celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

While chatting with a listener named Gordon, Rylan took the opportunity to ask: "Can I just double check this isn't Ramsay and you want your cat back from the restaurant?"

However, the caller, hailing from Somerset, playfully put Rylan's mind at rest, by responding: "No mate, I can't cook for toffee."

Breathing a sigh of relief combined with a touch of humour, Rylan joked: "Thank the lord, I thought the police were after me."

Gordon opened his Manchester branch of Lucky Cat in 2023

This light-hearted exchange comes shortly after Rylan had to say sorry to Gordon Ramsay on air last month for pocketing a memento from his Lucky Cat restaurant located in Manchester's King Street.

With a note of mischief, he confessed: "I've got to apologise to Gordon Ramsay. I stole something out of his restaurant last night."

After confessing that he had nabbed miniature cat chopstick rests in the past, he disclosed that during his recent visit, he fancied a significantly larger version: "Well, I went to the bathroom and they had ones that where about this big, about two foot tall."

But Rylan later divulged that the sizable feline wasn't nabbed but was actually given to him by Gordon's daughter, Holly, during an encounter at the popular restaurant.

Rylan first shared the anecdote on his show

The Lucky Cat, which opened its doors in June 2023, marked the first venture of the celebrity chef in Manchester. This followed the launch of the Asian restaurant in Mayfair, London four years prior.

In other news, away from the recent incident at Gordon's restaurant, Rylan recently shared some thrilling career updates with his Instagram followers.

The 36-year-old expressed his joy on social media as his BBC Two series, Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour, received a BAFTA nomination.

Following the success of the first series, the duo is gearing up for another round of adventures. They are set to embark on the second edition of the show, with India being their next destination.
