Having previously wowed crowds performing in prestigious venues across the UK and live on BBC Radio Three, pianist Nicholas Nowicki is set to perform a one-off concert in Blyth later this month.
Nicholas - who is based in South Northumberland but works and performs both nationally and across the North East - is gearing up to play his upcoming show at the Yamaha Music School in Blyth on April 12.
On what to expect from the soloist, Nicholas told ChronicleLive: "I'm delighted to be performing at the Yamaha School in Blyth for the second time. My programme this time features a monumental work in each half. The first half features Ravel’s Miroirs - not often performed as a whole, they are a virtuosic masterpiece in which he explores evocations of nature, sounds of birds, bells and the sea, all set in Ravel’s “impressionistic” sound world.
"The second half is Musorgsky’s famous 'Pictures at an Exhibition', written in 1874. The piece has been arranged no fewer than 11 times by various different composers in various styles, but my recital features the original, in its uncompromising and visceral form"
Aside from performing, Nicholas aims to promote a love of music to youngsters throughout the North East by mentoring and teaching those taking their first steps in the musical world.

Nicholas said: "I believe passionately in passing on my expertise and my love for music to students. I think it’s incredibly important that they are able to express themselves through music, and find their voice. I’ve taught both privately and at RGS since 2008, and have taught at the Centre for Advance Training programme at the Glasshouse since 2022.”
Recent students have gone to conservatoire, and received music scholarships and exhibitions at Magdalen College and Eton.
As a conductor, he is the Musical Director for Tees Valley Youth Orchestra - the only one of its kind in the North East. And has led the youngsters to the National Finals of Music for Youth at Symphony Hall in Birmingham on five occasions.
He added: “It’s incredibly rewarding seeing students from absolutely all over the North-East come together to play music and share in the passion. Even though we rehearse on a Friday night, they come together with such energy and there’s a real buzz to every rehearsal.
"We go on international tours, including a 2019 trip to perform in Carnegie Hall in New York. We’ve actually got a concert coming up at the Glasshouse on July 6 too.
"They get so much more than just the musical side of things - for many, it can have such a huge and positive impact on them socially and help them build confidence, whilst working as a team towards a common goal, and improving individually."
Nicholas will be performing at the Northumberland Yamaha Music School in Blyth, NE24 1AY, UK on April 12. You can buy tickets for the performance here and find out more information on other upcoming shows.
