Tajikistan Supports Call For Increased Funding For Climate Conservation Efforts

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, April 4. Tajikistan supports the international community's call for expanded funding to address climate conservation and combat natural disasters, the country's President Emomali Rahmon said at a climate forum at the "EU - Central Asia" summit in Samarkand, Trend reports.

"We also support the international community's call for increased funding for climate conservation measures and efforts to combat natural disasters. This will help vulnerable countries, particularly developing nations, adapt to the impacts of climate change," Rahmon said.

The president also pointed out that embracing modern water-saving technologies is the name of the game when it comes to cutting down on water loss.

"At Tajikistan's initiative, the United Nations General Assembly declared 2025 as the International Year for Glacier Preservation and March 21st as World Glacier Day. Based on this resolution, Dushanbe will host the first-ever high-level international conference on glacier preservation this May. This will be another significant contribution by Tajikistan to the global climate agenda," he added.
