Unifaun Theatre Productions is this weekend staging Brad Birch’s new version of Henrik Ibsen’s classic play An Enemy of the People at Blue Box, Msida.

Following the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, questions have been raised about freedom of the press in Malta. An Enemy of the People tackles this issue in a story where a whistle-blower tries to talk to the press about a major scandal and is confronted by authorities.

Birch’s taut and rigorous adaptation of Ibsen’s original En Folkfiende examines the fault lines of power as media, politics and the public good come head to head in a thrilling drama of the conflict between the personal and the public.

The cast in this production, directed by Toni Attard, includes Mikhail Basmadjian, Antonella Axisa, Anthony Ellul, Simone Spiteri, Victor Debono, Philip Leone Ganado, Jean Marc Agius Cafa and Raquel Theuma.

Unifaun Theatre Productions’ performance of An Enemy of the People will be staged on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 8pm at Blue Box, M Space, 127, Oscar Zammit Street, Msida. Rating: 14+. Following the last performance on Sunday there will be a discussion between the audience and the author. For tickets, visit http://bluebox.azurewebsites.net/Event/10371.
