EARLY-BIRD REGISTRATION is underway until July 5 for the Summer Institute in Digital Literacy offered by the University of Rhode Island July 15-20.

PROVIDENCE – Early-bird registration is underway until July 5 for the Summer Institute in Digital Literacy offered by the University of Rhode Island. It will be held at the university’s Alan Shawn Feinstein College of Education and Professional Studies at 80 Washington St., Providence.

The six-day institute, designed for teachers, librarians and university faculty on the shifts technology causes in teaching and learning, is held July 15-20, according to URI.

The institute focuses on main areas of library, K-12, video production, higher education and leadership. Topics include media literacy and critical thinking across the K-16 curriculum; digital-media literacy; multimedia composition; and integration of media technology learning activities.

The keynote address, “Before There Were Screens, There Were Stories,” will be delivered by storyteller Len Cabral and his daughter, filmmaker Nuala Cabral.

Early-bird registration for the six days is $800; $1,150 to register and earn graduate credit; and $150 for Wednesday attendance only with the keynote and lunch. Registration can be made at https://bit.ly/2k6UgFb.
