ARMENPRESS director to participate in St. Petersburg summit of 30 major news agencies of the world
YEREVAN, MAY 23, ARMENPRESS.The 5th international summit of news agencies will take place on May 24 with the participation of 20 countries under the auspices of TASS in the sidelines of St. Petersburg international economic forum (SPIEF). ARMENPRESS director Aram Ananyan has left for St. Petersburg to participate in the summit, who will give a speech at the session. Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, TASS General Director Sergey Mikhaylov, RT Editor-In-Chief Margarita Simonyan, Kyodo News (Japan) Executive Director Hiroki Sugita, Associated Press Vice President for international news Ian Phillips, ANSA (Italy) CEO Giuseppe Cerbone will participate in the thematic discussion titled “The Future of Journalism in Times of New Challenges”.
More than 50 executives of about 30 major news agencies from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Vietnam, Germany, Egypt, Iran, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Cuba, Lebanon, Macedonia, Russia, Serbia, US, Turkey, Japan will participate in the media summit, as well as the business and cultural program of 2018 SPIEF.
The topic of discussion this year is “The Future of Journalism in Times of New Challenges”. The rapid development of digital technologies, social networks and new media poses new challenges before professional journalism. “Does traditional media have future in the light of the rapidly changing world? What threats do the ongoing changes bring? Will traditional media be in demand ten years later? If yes, then in what way? Will artificial intelligence be able to replace journalists in information-seeking?” These and many other questions will be discussed at the event.
